ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the ability to create blocks with geometry that can have more than one state of existence and is alterable in each block occurrence. These blocks are referred to as dynamic blocks. A block is a group of objects that can be copied throughout the drawing, allowing editing in one block to change the geometry of all other blocks with the same name. Constraints create a set of rules about how geometry behaves in relation to other geometry. There are two types of constraints that can be used, Geometric constraints and Dimensional constraints. Before users begin drafting, they need to plan the items that will be included in the dynamic block. It is helpful to have a piece of scratch paper and pencil during this step. Users need to insert a Visibility parameter by clicking on the Visibility button within the Parameters tab of the Block Authoring palette.
