ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I use the case study presented in the previous chapter to show how HOOD (habitus-oriented OD) goes back to OD’s original democratic and humanistic values and positions itself between organizations and society. Based on the case study, I claim that from the space between organizations and society HOOD is able to conduct “micro-emancipation” (Alvesson and Willmott, 2002). Micro-emancipation, as I show in this chapter, has the potential to produce change processes in which people and organizations operate within capitalism in a way that is both more effective and more ethical.
