ABSTRACT
This chapter delves on the issue of words and semantic morphemes. In the section of words, it clarifies the key concept of word and illustrates how to identify words in contemporary Chinese with concrete examples. In the section of semantic morphemes, the concept and classification of semantic morphemes are investigated. Compounding semantic morphemes are discussed, which is one of the innovations of the book.
