ABSTRACT

The Society has strong claims on the attention of all who take an interest in Christian missions. Schools were begun in a very early stage of most Christian missions; —but at first they were limited to boys; and the young Christian convert, returning to his home, was necessarily exposed to all the evils of heathen intercourse in his domestic circle. In 1834, the present Society was formed; and unsustained as it has been for the most part by the public meetings and other aids usually resorted to by Missionary Societies, its workings are so little generally known, that some few words of explanation of its objects may be needed.
