ABSTRACT

My journey to South Africa was of such real living interest that I feel a desire to share some of it with you, my friends. No time shall be wasted on the preliminaries, but I will plunge at once into the part that I think will interest you, so you will take the voyage for granted, and the landing at Cape Town, and the fortnight spent in its neighbourhood, and the long train journey of two consecutive days and nights, and imagine J. C. Bewes and myself in a hotel at Grahamstown going to start on our first drive in a real Cape “post-cart.”
