ABSTRACT

One of the distinguishing doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is, that a Prophet is necessary to stand at the head of the Church to lead and guide it. It is well known that this doctrine comes in contact with the teachings of the greater part of Christendom. The faith of modern Christians is not in Prophets or Apostles, that is, in living Prophets or Apostles. The Gospels, Epistles, and Prophecies, declared and written by the ancient Prophets, who spoke and wrote as they were moved upon by the Holy Ghost, are read and commented on with all diligence throughout Christian nations.
