ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book attempts to understand the various facets of sexual health communication in India through its Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) & Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) messages. It highlights the various ways in which sexual health gets constructed. One of the paradoxes of Indian culture is that sexual desire is used to sell everything from soaps to motorbikes while sexuality of its masses is denied. In most of the countries, safe sex practices are often seen as social problems of the poor and the marginalised. Sexual health is an intricate and a multidimensional subject that has been addressed in different times and in different manners all over the world. The lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender groups in India have also been demanding separate spaces for themselves in the entire debate on HIV & AIDS.
