ABSTRACT

The General Standard Disclosures (GSDs) require quite some load of disclosure, and at COMPREHENSIVE level, far more than the G3 requirement – 58 individual disclosures where G3/G3.1 included only 42 disclosures. Even at CORE level, there are 34 disclosures, where at G3 Application Level C, there were 28 disclosure requirements. The additional disclosure for both levels includes reporting of materiality process and, at COMPREHENSIVE level, governance and remuneration and ethics. The Specific Standard Disclosures (SSDs) are also no less expansive, but the key here is the selection of Material Aspects and the required level of reporting on Disclosure on Management Approach (DMA) for each Aspect, and the number of performance indicators selected based on the CORE or COMPREHENSIVE approach. Given G4's limited success at achieving harmonization across different reporting frameworks, companies will want to include in their G4 reports the information that is relevant to other stakeholders, beyond the disclosures required by the G4 Framework.
