ABSTRACT

This chapter considers some of the supporting functions which can be altered to maximise its effectiveness. It shows that opportunities to embed the Green Jujitsu approach into that human resources structure. If business leader want a particular culture, then recruiting people whose attitudes are compatible with sustainability makes a good foundation for their efforts. The good news is that companies with a good reputation on environmental and ethical issues have been shown to attract more applicants, so business leader will have more to choose from, which makes it more likely that he will find candidates who are great at their job and interested in sustainability. To maximise this opportunity, sustainability issues should be incorporated into the whole recruitment process. One of the most common first steps large organisations make in sustainability programmes is to appoint sustainability champions throughout the functions and ranks. Training sessions are a great opportunity to promote environmental sustainability to individuals.
