ABSTRACT

Getting the right people is the key to successfully implementing a sustainability programme. Obviously external help can come at a cost and can be very expensive. Most companies will use a select group of sustainability suppliers based on their needs, time, budget, internal expertise and material issues. There is good news. Despite these straitened economic times, free support is still available, particularly relating to resource efficiency. This tends to be provided on a regional basis, and reader may need to meet certain criteria, for example, free support may only be available for SMEs, but it is worth a quick internet search or phone call to their local chamber of commerce, council or Groundwork team. Reader will find that external support is available on all aspects of their programme, from strategy development or environmental management systems to resource efficiency or community investment.
