ABSTRACT

Land surface observations data from the Met Office station network and other worldwide stations as stored in the Met Office MIDAS database. Data are available for the period from 1853. The dataset comprises daily and hourly weather measurements, direct and diffuse radiation, hourly wind parameters, max and min air temperatures, cloud cover, soil temperatures, sunshine duration and radiation measurements and daily, hourly and sub-hourly rain measurements and some climatology data. It is updated monthly. Use it to find the global horizontal irradiance (global irradiance is the total received on a horizontal surface direct from the whole sky including the sun). Input the location, size, efficiency and other information about the proposed installation and it will calculate the average output of the system.
