ABSTRACT

Business anthropologists have a vital role in gathering and processing this important information. Business anthropologists are in a position to help decision makers understand and utilize these patterned responses, especially when communicating with a wide range of people on a global scale. A basic premise of mental structuralism is that in some ways people act, think, and respond in parallel manners that trigger similar responses. To whatever extent thought and action spring from collective predispositions, human behavior becomes predictable. The concept of archetypes has been especially useful in the areas of mythology, folklore, and literary criticism. Various archetypes, the theory goes, tend to make specific plotlines especially attractive to audiences. Archetypical analysis explores how and why age-old formulas influence people, even if such plotlines may appear as tired and overworked cliches. In an era when professional football has emerged as a dominant sport, the pro quarterback is often cast in the heroic role.
