ABSTRACT
The elements of a bottom-up development perspective applied in practice are grouped around the research questions: Drivers, circumstances and success factors. Drivers can be understood as motivation or reasons to choose a bottom-up development perspective in Base of the Pyramid (BoP) ventures. They answer the questions relating to why companies use a bottom-up approach. Circumstances that help or hinder the application of a bottom-up development perspective in BoP ventures answer the questions that ask when a bottom-up approach is applied. Circumstances can be of company-external or company-internal nature. Success factors when choosing a bottom-up development perspective in BoP ventures in turn can be changed by the company and are applied during the project implementation. From qualitative social science derived, framework the propositions are summarised and gathered around the innovation process of BoP ventures. The innovation process was in a steady flow with feedback loops and the people engaged.
