ABSTRACT

Most of us are not so self-centered as to say that we completely ignore the natural environment or other people. Nor will most people or organizations say they are always selfless and think only of others. The first, and most important commitment we and the organizations we are involved with must make to realize the shift from "Me" to "We" that is essential to resolving today's many crises, is to see the systems we are part of. After scores of people and organizations make this commitment, society will take the first step toward maneuvering through the tumultuous days that lie ahead in a manner that eventually resolves our interlocking social, economic, and ecological problems. This commitment is extremely important because it focuses our attention on integration. All of the other commitments involved with the shift from "Me" to "We" follow from this foundational principle.
