ABSTRACT

Our planet is composed of interlocking webs of systems, so almost everything we do today has a consequence of some type, somewhere, at some point in time. This is the Law of Cause and Effect. This natural law of sustainability is closely connected to the Law of Interdependence because it describes the consequences that occur when we fail to see and care for the Earth's social and ecological systems of which we are part. The second commitment we and the organizations we are involved with must make to realize the shift from "Me" to "We" that is essential to resolving today's many crises, is to be accountable for all of the consequences of our actions. The more mindful we become of the potential effects of our actions, the greater our awareness will become. People who make the effort to be mindful of the consequences of their behavior are more keenly interested in things occurring around them.
