ABSTRACT

The path to leadership for sustainability implies change and transformation of paradigms and behaviors, starting with the individual. It has also been recognized that in the end spiritual intelligence can be instrumental in helping each individual to pursue a higher sense of meaning and values, leading to a Care for all stage of personal development. The change path toward sustainability can be considered a transformational effort, requiring those qualities Quinn is talking about. The chapter focuses on the process of change of the self, the role of the three Care dimensions in the change path, and the importance of core beliefs. It discusses how paradigm shifts may affect and change leading core assumptions. One of the collective core beliefs that get in the way of a sustainable future is the belief that only a technical way of thinking can solve the sustainability problems the world is facing.
