ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors describe how the Holistic Development Model can help us to put words to meaning, so that they can think and speak with clarity about the things we feel deeply and know are important. They discuss how the model enables us to talk easily with others about meaning in a way that is grounded and easy to listen. The authors draw out what others hold as meaningful in a way that can transcend the different perspectives and world-views that they bring to the table. They present four quadrants to be the four pathways through which people seek and find meaningfulness in their lives. It helps us to see that meaning-making is a natural, everyday human activity, done by ordinary people just like the people. It helps us understand that the profound is not necessarily abstract and complex but can be grounded and simple.
