ABSTRACT

The non-governmental organisations and even a growing number of shareholders accuse the company of a lack of clarity, transparency and willingness to discuss its position. In an attempt to turn the tide, the company decides to develop a code which explains company policy. The edge of the steering wheel concerns the measures that are taken to optimise the conditions for adhering to the code. Measuring the conditions can also be conducted systematically by means of a survey. A survey is an efficient measurement instrument that generates a broad and penetrating picture. In addition, it lends itself to follow-up measurements whereby one can achieve a fairly accurate overview of changes occurring. Ultimately embedding a code has the aim of bringing about desirable behaviour and outcomes. The dashboard in the code cockpit contains several meters. The chapter discusses an example of an organisation where the code cockpit was supplied with real-time information on the vitality of the code in each business division.
