ABSTRACT

Over 500 signatory institutions from around the world are working to transform the way they train the next generation of leaders and managers using the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), both as a framework derived from universally accepted sustainability principles and as part of a dynamic learning community. The ways in which they choose to do this are unique to each institution, and the Inspirational Guide project is an encouraging example of all of the different ways that responsible management can be embedded into the purpose and values of higher education institutions (HEIs) as well as the way that they teach students, conduct research, and interact with stakeholders. At the same time, challenges faced in mainstreaming sustainability principles remain for all HEIs, regardless of how long they have been signatory to PRME, the size of their institution, or where they are located in the world.
