ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study for the expansion and consolidation of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) in Sabanci University School of Management. It provides an overview of the challenge(s) faced in relation to mainstreaming responsible management, an explanation of the actions taken in relation to the challenge(s), information about the results and benefits of the actions taken, and some points regarding the role of PRME/sustainability principles to carry out the activity. The Independent Women Directors (IWD) Project was initiated by Sabanci University School of Management through its Corporate Governance Forum, a research and advocacy centre, in partnership with Egon Zehnder International, an international executive search firm, and the Swedish Consulate in Istanbul to address this issue. IWD’s purpose is to create awareness on the benefits of board diversity, develop and maintain a database of qualified women in cooperation with business schools, and match the women in the database with companies wishing to nominate women to their boards.
