ABSTRACT

The environment of the business or company can be distinguished by its specific actors, and the main environmental issues raised. The institutional sphere is characterised by various stakeholders with specific socioeconomic interests in the company. They are concerned about the working climate, the economic security of the business that employs them, health and safety in the workplace and personal development. Management must therefore decide on how to allocate value that has been created by business activity relative to the claims of certain groups on the business. The variety of stakeholder perspectives provides a framework for the analysis of social relations between stakeholders and business. Conventional stakeholders are also concerned about environmentally related claims on business—with issues ranging from securing a healthy workplace to securing returns from contracts with business. Nevertheless, stakeholders continue to operate in different spheres. The different stakeholders spheres are technological sphere, economic sphere, legal sphere, sociocultural sphere, and political sphere.
