ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the core principles and processes involved with Transformational Resilience using the Resilient Growth model as the framework. Transformational Resilience is first and foremost preventative medicine. Transformational Resilience skills can be learned by people of any age. The initial focus of Transformational Resilience is to gain the capacity to moderate the "push" of our innate psychobiological drives and regulate the body's Fear and Alarm Center. The concept of Transformational Resilience highlights the importance of the biology of the nervous system as well as the critical transactional role that assumptions, beliefs, and perceptions play in shaping the capacity of people to find purpose and fulfillment in life. A simple way to keep the elements of Transformational Resilience in mind is through the use of the Resilient Growth model. The word Growth is purposely employed to emphasize that individuals and groups benefit when they use adversities generated by climate disruption as catalysts to grow as humans.
