ABSTRACT

How could business education be transformed to better prepare the kinds of sustainability leaders our businesses and our planet need? Businesses are made up of individuals, many of whom are business graduates, making decisions on a day-to-day basis that affect their businesses and the world around them. The future business school isn't just about developing more sustainability leaders; it is about forming individuals who have both a better understanding of the world around them, how they fit within that world, and their responsibilities towards it. The curriculum of the business school of the future will embed sustainability topics throughout all classes and experiences, reaching all students rather than just a subsection. The business school of the future will be more focused on impact rather than just outputs. Forward-looking business schools will be much more purposeful about creating a culture that supports sustainability, and will shift from being focused purely on a single bottom line to acknowledging all three.
