ABSTRACT

The business school of the future will be much more flexible than it is today. It will provide more flexibility in terms of the kinds of programmes on offer, whether they are short, long, aimed at students from a particular discipline, focused on a particular part of their career, or available over a lifetime. In the future, students will be able to build their own programmes from scratch and present their plans to their chosen business school or schools for approval. Sustainability is an interdisciplinary topic, and, as such, managers need to have a wider understanding of the systems that affect business and that business itself affects, whether that be economic, social or environmental. Business schools will become membership-based programmes. The business schools themselves might have a range of different types of memberships and membership levels for individuals of all ages and for businesses.
