ABSTRACT

External networks and groups help in finding people with similar ideas and values. External groups such as business schools, social innovation networks, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), corporate responsibility (CR) coalitions, venture philanthropists and awards all play roles in helping social intrapreneurs to succeed with their ideas and achieve shared sustainability goals. Social innovation networks such as Impact Hub attract social entrepreneurs as well as social innovators inside business organisations. Where companies have already embraced social intrapreneurship, NGOs can help with market research, awareness-raising sessions with employees, hosting field visits and providing technical support under contract with the company. Business schools can also provide an environment that caters for the social intrapreneur's learning needs. Such programmes provide social intrapreneurs-in-development with mutual support and reassurance, contacts and access to technical expertise, capacity-building and problem-solving opportunities, mentoring and career support, awareness of sustainability issues and possible solutions, and technical and soft-skills training.
