ABSTRACT

The purpose of the Marshall Plan was to build a working economy in the world with the United States (US) providing all funds necessary to nations wanting to reconstruct their economies. The Marshall Plan was effective in helping reconstruct Europe because of the additional building blocs of movement toward more open trade, US tax policy, and US defense policy. Fear of the USSR and chaos in Western Europe had driven the US to develop and implement the Marshall Plan, which was the first building bloc of the Creation. The Marshall Plan premise was that people living in growing economies would resist communism much more readily than those in stagnating economies. The idea of the Marshall Plan was that the Soviets could be contained by having strong economies around the USSR and that the Marshall Plan would be sufficient for the purpose.
