ABSTRACT

Mr. Gunther was a buyer and sales representative for a paint company which had been founded by his father. Mrs. Gunther's father was a carpenter. Mr. Gunther worked for his father from 1901 to 1922, starting at $3 and later earning $40 a week. Mrs. Gunther said she cried a great deal when they were forced to apply for Relief. Mrs. Gunther describes her husband as tall and good-looking, a man who makes an excellent appearance. Mrs. Gunther speaks well of Mr. Gunther and there seems to be a happy relationship. Mr. Gunther is hopeful that he will secure work in private industry but his wife is not so optimistic despite the fact that she knows Mr. Gunther could do the work if he had the opportunity. Mr. Gunther was eastern sales manager for a chemical company and his territory stretched from Richmond to Toronto.
