ABSTRACT

As far as the news media and most of the American people are concerned, the sexual relationship between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky has come, seen, conquered, overstayed its welcome, overstayed its welcome some more, and finally sunk into a welldeserved oblivion, deep below the surface of public conscious ness. What we once seemed unable to ignore, even for a day, we now are most unwilling to remember. Were the impeachment hear ings (or, for that matter, the bombing of Baghdad, the war in Viet nam) anything more than a strange dream?
