ABSTRACT

Colonel Gowon and other statesmen, both in authority and out, need help that conventional political science and economics cannot provide. The weaknesses and strengths of these two social sciences are complimentary: in the case of political science, we find an appropriate perspective but im proper tools, while in economics we find useful tools but a distorted per spective. W e propose a synthesis of the natural advantages of each disci pline to provide an appropriate perspective and adequate tools. This we call political economy.
