ABSTRACT

A vision of a future in which family and work are gracefully integrated over the span of a woman's life requires a change of heart as well as mind. Family and children must be valued and promoted. Moral responsibility must be reintroduced in to the marriage contract. A rejuvenated women's-rights strategy could begin by drawing together women on the left, the right and the middle of the political spectrum who agree that divorce is damaging the lives of millions of women and children. The push for women's rights must come at local, state, and federal levels and from both private and public sectors. Divorce, custody, day care, tax relief for parents, part-time jobs, and medical benefits for women and children must become issues upon which all candidates for local, state, and federal government are forced to take a stand.
