Babos, Paola-is an Associate Expert with the United Nations in the Leadership and Capacity Development Unit of UN-OHRLLS. Focusing on the Least Developed Countries, Ms. Babos works with a range of stakeholders applying whole systems transformation and leadership development to achieve measurable and sustainable change in the domains of peace and development. Prior to joining the United Nations in New York City, Ms. Babos worked in the Balkans and other transition economies. She served in fi eld positions in Serbia and Kosovo, focusing on post-confl ict dialogue and reconciliation between Serb, Albanian and Roma communities in the aftermath of the Yugoslav wars. Brown, Lester R.—is Founder and President of the Earth Policy Institute, which purpose is to provide a vision of an environmentally sustainable economy and a roadmap of how to get from here to there. He has also founded the Worldwatch Institute in Washington D.C. in 1974 and launched the State of the World reports in 1984. Dr. Brown is the author or co-author of over 50 books on global environmental issues and his works have been translated into more than forty languages. Faltin, Guenter-is a German Economist and Entrepreneur. He is Professor of Entrepreneurship at Freie Universitaet Berlin, and Founder of “Teekampagne,” the largest mail order tea business in Germany. According to the Tea Board of India, “Teekampagne” has been the world’s largest single importer of Darjeeling leaf tea since 1998. Noticing many years ago that tea was sold at shockingly high prices, Professor Faltin looked for ways to challenge the traditional tea market. Thus, he created a new business model based on the principle of simplicity, which allows selling the world’s best Darjeeling tea at very low prices and therewith making it affordable to many people. Professor Faltin teaches the principle of simplicity in business to students at Freie Universitaet Berlin and encourage them to become entrepreneurs themselves. Ganser, Daniele-Ph.D., is a Swiss Historian who specializes in international relations and international history from 1945 to today. His research interests are peace research, geostrategy, secret warfare, resource wars, globalization and human rights. Dr. Ganser teaches at Swiss universities, including the History Department at Basel University. His current

research is focusing on the so called “war on terror” and peak oil (www. peakoil.ch). From 2001 to 2003 Daniele Ganser was a Senior Researcher with the Think Tank Avenir Suisse in Zurich. Saionji, Hiroo-is the President of The Goi Peace Foundation and its sister organization, The World Peace Prayer Society, a New York based Non-Governmental Organization associated with the Department of Public Information at the United Nations. Mr. Saionji is the great-grandson of Prince Kinmochi Saionji, who was twice Prime Minister of Japan during the Meiji Period. He is President of The Crescent, and a Member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors of Michigan State University, where he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Tasaka, Hiroshi-is the Founder and the President of Think Tank SophiaBank, a global network think tank that fosters social entrepreneurs to change paradigms of social systems. He is also the President of The Japan Social Entrepreneur Forum (JSEF), a networking organization to

Dr. Tasaka is a Professor at the Graduate School of Tama University in Tokyo, where he teaches the philosophy, vision, policy, strategy and skills of social entrepreneurs to create new social systems. Wackernagel, Mathis-Ph.D., is a Founder and Executive Director of Global Footprint Network, a charitable research organization with headquarters in California. This organization supports the creation of a sustainable economy by advancing the policy-utility of the Ecological Footprint. The goal is to make ecological limits central to decision-making everywhere. Dr. Wackernagel has lectured at over 100 universities and worked on sustainability issues for organizations on all continents. He has authored or contributed to over fi fty peer-reviewed papers, numerous articles and reports, and various books on sustainability that focus on the question of embracing limits and developing metrics for sustainability, including Our Ecological Footprint: Reducing Human Impact on the Earth, Sharing Nature’s Interest, and WWF International’s Living Planet Report. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, he completed his Ph.D. in community and regional planning at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. There he created, as his doctoral dissertation, with Professor William Rees the “Ecological Footprint” concept, now a widely used sustainability measure. Warwick, Mal-has distinguished himself through his contributions to the nonprofi t sector as one of the world’s leading authors, consultants, and public speakers on fundraising for nonprofi t organizations and as an advocate for socially and environmentally responsible policies and practices in the private sector. A serial entrepreneur, Mr. Warwick has been active in promoting social and environmental responsibility in the business community nationwide for more than 15 years. Along with Cohen and others, he was a co-founder of Business for Social Responsibility and served on its board during its inaugural year. In 2001, after more than a decade as an active member of Social Venture Network, he was elected to its board and served as Chair (2002-2006). He also was a member of the Founding Advisory Board of the Center for Responsible Business at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2002-2003. Mr. Warwick is the Founder and Chairman of Mal Warwick Associates (Berkeley, Calif., and Washington, D.C.), a fundraising agency specializing in direct marketing. The company has served nonprofi t organizations since 1979. He also founded its sister company, Response Management Technologies, Inc., a data processing fi rm for nonprofi t organizations, and was a Co-Founder of the telephone fundraising fi rm, Share Group, Inc. (Somerville, Mass.). In 1999, he cofounded Donordigital (San Francisco, Calif.), which assists nonprofi t organizations with online fundraising, marketing, and advocacy. Mr. Warwick and his associates are responsible for raising at least half a billion dollars-largely in the form of small gifts from individuals. He is also an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (Alexandria, Va.) and served for ten years on the board of the Association of Direct Response Fundraising Counsel (Washington, D.C.), two of those years as President.
