ABSTRACT
Welfare recipients are often grouped as a monolithic entity in public discussion. They are not all alike. Part of the objective of this study is to obtain a better perspective on the attitudes and perceptions that exist among this diverse group of people. This study therefore attempts to find out the views, hopes, fears and aspirations of the broad range of people who happen to be welfare recipients in New York City.
