ABSTRACT
Here is a sample of problems confronting the translation of selections of Georg Heym into modern English poetry. The poem here discussed, “Final Visit,” appeared only after his death; it was among his many unpublished manuscripts. Despite long neglect, it has been called—by Gottfried Benn—one of the three great love poems of all time.
