ABSTRACT
Bound for Dulles International Airport from LAX, David Diamond settled into his seat, glad finally to be aboard the American Airlines flight. He was tired after a restless night's sleep, and a bit down as well. His three-month-long affair with Cindy Mays had ended abruptly the previous day. Just like that! She had broken up with him, ostensibly over his refusal to take her to Cuba with him, but the real reason, he suspected, was that she saw no reason to continue their relationship with him being away for the next few months.
