Captain Joaquín Acosta ordered Sergeant Oscar Montoya to fetch a car from MININT’s pool of automobiles for his appointments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As was often the case on Monday mornings, he spent time catching up on developments over the weekend and planned his work schedule for the next few days. This would be a particularly busy week. Two American Senators were expected to arrive on Saturday to explore the possibility of the United States and Cuba resuming diplomatic relations.
