ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the international organizations that are largely made up of Latin American (LA) nations, although certain of these organizations, such as the Movement of Non Aligned Nations (MNNA), may contain varying numbers of representatives from other regions. The General Assembly (AG) of the Organization of American States (OAS) is the "supreme organ" of that organization and meets annually, although it may convoke extraordinary sessions by a two-thirds vote of its member states. The AG president is elected at the first plenary session of an annual assembly, the government of the host country, here Venezuela, designating a provisional president until such election. The OAS member countries today reaffirm their intention of strengthening multi lateralism as an expression of the unity which guides their efforts to consolidate the principles and consecrate the proposals in the Charter of the Organization.
