Civil-military relations in Israel in the late 1990s have reached a critical state, unprecedented since the formative period of Israeli society in the 1920s and 1930s. These relations are in the midst of a process of rapid change; and since it is a polysemic crisis that stems from many sources, it is likely to continue and even deteriorate.
