ABSTRACT

After the first volume of the Freud-Ferenczi correspondence, 1 it will take two more full texts to complete the fascinating storehouse of letters that helps flesh out the story of the relationship between Freud and his chief Hungarian disciple. Since by one (perhaps high) estimate there could be as many as 35,000 Freud letters that have survived, only a small fraction of which have appeared, it will be a long time before all of Freud’s correspondence gets published. It is likely that these letters are going at least occasionally to show sides of Freud that his most politic defenders would want to minimize.
