ABSTRACT

In the organic world, the law of reproduction is manifested in the production of offspring, or in biological heredity. This chapter provides a discussion on the evaluation of the law of reproduction in the supraorganic world. There is considerable evidence indicating that "spiritual" heredity, alongside biological and individual heredity, plays a prominent role in the life of society. Spirituality is inherited by society through upbringing and ancestral values, and is transferred to one social organization or another from the past in the form of established forms of social life. The chapter demonstrates what significance social heredity holds in the collective life of nations and social organizations. Without a doubt, this social heredity is made possible thanks to the transfer, via the printed or spoken word, of the products of human creativity from one generation to another. The most convincing example of social heredity is custom.
