ABSTRACT

The first part of the present chapter gives insight into the underlying psychoanalytic theory of the work at hand, as the present work is also intended for an audience in the fields of computer science, informatics, and artificial intelligence. The author explicitly points out that the introduced psychoanalytic concepts are simplified and are intended for a computer science audience. The second part explains the important key concepts for the work at hand in order to develop a technical model of the psychoanalytic defense processes. Equations and formulas are given to calculate the introduced concepts of Super-Ego strength, Ego strength, conflict strength, and psychic intensity. The third part discusses previous implementations of the ARS project. The ARS project implements a functional model of the human mind and is the basic pillar for the work at hand. Furthermore, the author gives definitions of psychoanalytic and technical terms. These definitions explain how the terms are used in the work at hand to develop a model of defense processes.
