ABSTRACT

A respected scholar in the area of instruction, Kenneth Eble, attempted to describe the art of teaching, including his philosophical perspectives on the relationship between teachers and students, pedagogical methods, and pragmatic tips for addressing practical problems in the classroom. His book, The Craft of Teaching, attempted to address these topics as thoroughly as possible. Naturally, a comprehensive work would include testing and the issue of cheating on tests; Eble’s (1988) perception of these was that they constitute the “grubby stuff and dirty work” of teaching (p. 123).
