ABSTRACT
In the first section of this chapter, we describe the central conceptual properties of the landscape view of reading. In the second section, we illustrate the general model by implementing it in a specific theory of reading comprehension (based on the assumption that readers attempt to maintain coherence) and by empirically testing the implementation’s validity. In the third section, we pursue implications of this model by describing how it captures specific phenomena and current issues in the area of discourse processing.
