In numerous ways, Snow reshaped the concept of aptitude. He identified readiness as its defining feature. As affective and conative characteristics of the person clearly contribute to or impede readiness, “aptitude” extended far beyond “ability” or “intelligence.” Aptitude emerged as a complex concept seen in active person-situation engagement.
