ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the relations between context and behavior. Generally, context is defined as being composed of environmental and personal variables, such as room size and the psychological aspects of those being studied, respectively. For example, personal variables for kindergarten children may include their age and gender. Environmental variables are those aspects of the physical and social environment in which the children and adults interact. For example, children may interact in different areas (e.g., block or book corners) within their kindergarten classroom.
