ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 presents a rationale for the importance of affective characteristics in the context of schools and schooling. Chapter 2 discusses is conceptual and operational definitions of a variety of affective characteristics. The purpose of this chapter is to examine general approaches to assessing affective characteristics.
