ABSTRACT
In looking into the particular future I want to project here, we need first to reject both Locke's basic premise that individuals and their ideas are the primary unit, and the presumption of a great divide between the private and the public. These imaginings of Locke deny any sense of participation, and any sense of genuine community and, concomitantly, trivialize the process of communicating.
