ABSTRACT
If family is the foundation of society, then parenting is the process by which a society manages to maintain itself through time even while its membership is constantly changing. One generation reproduces itself in the next, not only biologically but also in its values, competencies, and character. The process by which this enormous feat is accomplished is called parenting.
