ABSTRACT
Rick is White, married to a former teacher, the father of two daughters, and a teacher. He has taught in the same classroom in the same working-class neighborhood school in Vallejo, California, since 1987. He teaches fourth and fifth graders in a combination class and has been “looping” with half his class for the past several years. Rick is particularly interested in the social, emotional, and ethical lives of his ethnically and linguitically diverse students.
