ABSTRACT
Our society claims to value peace and order and yet most people you talk to crave excitement and diversion. They enjoy drama and like living at a frantic pace. One of the author's students writing a Sopranos script tells her it's big on family values. After all, movies about the Mafia are always touting how great Mafia dons are to their mothers, how loyal they are to their friends, how loving they are to their children. Lots of Mafia members are even regular churchgoers. Paramahansa Yogananda said that "if we conceive of God as Bliss then and then only may we make religion universally necessary. For no one can deny that he wishes to attain Bliss and, if he wishes to achieve it in the proper way, he is going to be religious through approaching and feeling God, who is described as very close to his heart as Bliss".
