ABSTRACT

Children’s use of technology has expanded rapidly with the proliferation of cell phones, pagers, music videos, video games, DVDs, and other digital devices, but television still retains its prominent spot in the media world. The pace of the current research and the number of studies on the impact of all of these media on the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of children and adolescents is breathtaking. Interesting findings regarding the frequency and patterns of use of each of the media have emerged. New variables have been identified as significant factors, and more diverse relations among old ones have been revealed.
